Flügger through the years

In May 2024, we launched the Flügger Organic strategy with a focus on the core business, organic growth and a robust value chain that contributes to increased earnings.

1783

Founded in Hamburg

Daniel Flügger founded the company in Hamburg, beginning a legacy rooted in craftsmanship, colour, and quality.

1890

Flügger arrives in Denmark

Flügger opened its first Danish branch to support professional painters with local expertise and service.

1948

A Danish company

Following the Second World War, Flügger became Danish-owned under the leadership of Michael Schnack.

1958

New factory
outside Copenhagen

Flügger opened its first Danish production facility and began developing professional-quality decorative paint.

1970

Pioneering water-based paint

A new factory in Kolding was built to produce water-based, environmentally conscious paint solutions.

1975

Opening for private homes

Flügger expanded beyond professional painters, bringing Scandinavian colour and quality into private interiors.

1994

Growing across Scandinavia

Flügger strengthened its Scandinavian presence through expansion across Sweden and Norway.

2007

International expansion

Flügger expanded beyond Scandinavia, entering new international markets including Poland and China.

2019

Strengthening European
production

Flügger expanded its production capabilities through a majority investment in Unicell Poland.

2021

A new generation

Sune Schnack became CEO, continuing the family legacy into a new generation.

2024

Towards a greener future

Flügger launched a new strategy centred around sustainable value and the ambition to help shape a greener industry.
